It was a humbling experience. I felt like I really don’t know anything about design. It was inspiring to hear from someone who put a light onto a neglected part of the design. I believe there are much more undiscovered aspects that we can focus on that will help improve our overall experience with design.

The different types of transaction was also very interesting. I presented an idea where people are charged not per slices of bacon they purchase, but charged when they’ve consumed one whole animal. I realized there are so many different ways to design and bring awareness to issues. It’s only a matter of perspective (I really want to educate myself in different fields such as religion from around the world).

I also appreciated Joe’s focus on delivering emotional ending for the death of a product/service. It’s a topic that I really never thought about. I imagined that once the service is over, there’s really nothing you can get from something that’s gone. I realized this isn’t true because like movies, novels, and any presentation that has a story - the ending is what you remember about the overall experience. Through this class, I learned that products and design have stories. And through this workshop, I learned that these design stories require better attention to their endings.
